How to Solve and Prevent Amazon Error 8541

This article explains how to fix Error Code 8541 (The SKU data provided is different from what's already in the Amazon catalog.)

The error is explained: "The SKU data provided is different from what's already in the Amazon catalog. The standard_product_id data provided matches ASIN <any_value_here>, but the following data is different from what's already in the Amazon catalog: field_name (Merchant: 'X' / Amazon: 'Y'). If this is the right ASIN for your product, update your data to match what's in the Amazon catalog. If it's not the right ASIN, make sure that your data for standard_product_id is correct."

This error means that you are trying to list a product on Amazon already using the UPC/EAN/GTIN provided. Provided data field/value that isn’t matching up with what Amazon already has, so you need to update your data to match exactly with Amazon’s.

 

How to Fix Error Code 8541

If you want to list already existing products on Amazon, there are two ways to fix this error.

1- Use the Fast listing feature of Store Automator. Fast listing is a useful feature to list your items on Amazon by using the existing listings. Store Automator links your item to existing items on the Amazon catalog using your item’s UPC and ASIN information within this feature. That means you only send your price, inventory, and condition but not the other items fields, e.g., title, description, images.

2- The alternative is to update the data in StoreAutomator the same as Amazon's current value.

If your item color is blue, but the color is dark blue on Amazon, you can change your color to Dark Blue to fix this error.

If you want to list or update your existing brand product on Amazon, use the StoreAutomator Product ID type, and ID overrides feature to fix this error.

1- Click edit item on Amazon channel level.

2- Select ASIN as Product ID Type Override, g

from the dropbox under the General > Identity tab.

3- Enter ASIN, which conflicts Amazon Catalog as Product ID Override

4- Select Amazon Update Method as Replace

5- Save & Close product editor page.

6- Select your item and force product data update.

7- Sync your Amazon channel.

Your product data will be updated on the Amazon catalog in a minute.
