Adding UPCs to SKUs on StoreAutomator
Learn why UPCs are key for successful selling and how to add these to your SKUs in StoreAutomator.
Why are UPCs important for success?
- Marketplace Compliance: Many online marketplaces, including Amazon, require sellers to provide UPCs for their products. By adding UPCs to your SKUs, you ensure compliance with marketplace guidelines, avoiding potential account suspensions or listing removals as well as enhancing your product listings, improve inventory management, and safeguard your brand's integrity.
- Product Identification: UPCs uniquely identify your products, helping to prevent confusion and ensure accurate inventory management. When a customer searches for a specific product, the UPC can match their search query, leading to increased visibility and potential sales.
- Improved Listings: Including UPCs in your product listings can enhance their visibility and searchability on marketplaces. It allows your products to be correctly categorized, improving the chances of appearing in relevant search results and attracting more potential buyers.
- Brand Protection: Having valid UPCs associated with your products helps protect your brand's reputation and prevents counterfeit or unauthorized sellers from listing under your product identifiers.
Walmart and UPCs:
In order to successfully list your products on Walmart, it is crucial to have unique UPCs for each product, even if they are part of a kit or bundle.
Let's consider an example to illustrate this. Suppose you have a single smartphone for sale in your store, and you also offer a bundle of two smartphones. In this case, the single smartphone must have its own unique UPC, and the bundle of two smartphones must have a separate unique UPC.
Having distinct UPCs is essential for gaining traction on Walmart, as the marketplace requires each product or SKU to have a different UPC. This ensures proper product identification and avoids any confusion among buyers.
By assigning specific and unique UPCs to your products, you enhance your chances of success on Walmart. It allows for accurate product categorization, improved searchability, and better visibility to potential customers. Remember that adhering to Walmart's UPC requirements is vital for a seamless selling experience on their platform.
