Bulk Import New Taxonomies (New Categories)

Bulk Import New Taxonomies (New Categories)

With the use of bulk action files, you can add several taxonomies to the StoreAutomator System and assign them to your items.

Please see the sample format below for creating new taxonomies using a bulk file. You can also use this format to allocate your product if the taxonomy has already been built.

Note: category_1 is allocated for local category assignment and it needs to be in the file even if you had already defined the local category for the item.

If you wish to build two new taxonomies called Shopify Taxonomy and Ebay Taxonomy via bulk file, follow these steps. (It can be named as per your need)

To begin, you must have SKUs specified in the productdata.sku column in order to establish new taxonomies, and these taxonomies will be allocated to these SKUs at the same time.

Next, type your local categories in the category_1 column as shown on the sample screenshot, starting with the main category, and add leaf categories by separating them with a greater than sign without using a space. Then, in the category_2, put the name of your new taxonomy, followed by a colon, and begin typing your categories and leaf categories separated them with greater than sign as seen above. Repeat for the remaining taxonomies with the only difference being the column header and taxonomy name as it is in the sample format above. And It will go as category_3, category_4 and so on if necessary.

Important Notes:

  • In a bulk file, you can only add 5 categories at once.
  • category_1 is allocated for local category assignment and it must be in the file, otherwise the local category will be overridden.
  • For your new taxonomies if you do not assign a name before the categories, then these categories will be added into your local category. For example, instead of Shopify Taxonomy:test1>test2, if you type without the name of the taxonomy such as test1>test2, then this category will be added into your local category tree.
  • If you just want to assign the product to an existing taxonomy, you have to make sure that you type the name of the taxonomy and categories exactly the same as they have been created.
