Include/Exclude Products on a Specific Channel

Learn how to include/exclude products on a specific channel.

Introduction

Inclusion control is utilized to include or exclude a product or a brand name from a channel. For example:

  • You can include a product for Amazon Channel and exclude from Walmart,

  • You can exclude a product because you are out of stock,

  • You can set a default behavior for including all inventory while syncing,

  • You can exclude a newly created product since its description is not ready to hit the markets

Inheritance of inclusion control is shown below:

Inventory items > Publish Control > Inventory to Channel inclusion > Brand level > Item level

1. By default, the main dashboard is set to Global view. A specific channel can be selected by clicking the dropdown button that appears to the left of the word ‘Global’:

2. When the dropdown menu opens, any specific channel can be selected. We will use Amazon as an example:

3. A specific Amazon channel can now be chosen. We will use Amazon Australia as an example:

The screen will redirect back to the main dashboard, However, this time the information will only reflect data related to the Amazon Australia account:

4. In the navigation pane on the left-hand side of the screen, a plus sign appears next to the channel title ‘Amazon Australia’. This can be clicked to expand the navigation panel:

5. When the Channel Title field expands, revealing additional options, the word ‘Settings’ can be found and clicked:

6. Now, with the menu fully expanded, the word ‘Common’ can be found and clicked:

The relevant tab to focus on is labeled ‘Sync’:

The fields on this page control the default settings for this channel. Whatever decisions are made on this page will be the default for every product in this channel. The first field is labeled ‘Include All Inventory’ and is basically a yes or no (all or nothing) question.

  • If the box is ticked, all products and data in inventory will be updated live during the next scheduled or forced, sync.

  • If the box is not ticked, no products or data will be updated live during the next scheduled or forced, sync.

7. Regardless of how the default preferences are set, these preferences can still be overridden for each individual product by clicking ‘Inclusion Control’ in the navigation panel on the left:

Channel > Inclusion Control

The first tab is labeled ‘Product Inclusion Control’ which shows the list of products for this channel. On the far right of each product there are three options:

  • Default – When chosen, uses default settings for this product

  • Include – When chosen, includes this product regardless of default settings

  • Exclude – When chosen, excludes this product regardless of default settings

8. The second tab is labeled ‘Brand Inclusion Control’. This tab functions much like the ‘Product Inclusion Control’ tab, but controls products at the brand level rather than individually.
Rather than a list of products, there will be a list of brands. On the far right of each brand will be three options:

  • Default – When chosen, uses default settings for this brand

  • Include – When chosen, includes every product under this brand name regardless of default settings

  • Exclude – When chosen, excludes every product under this brand name regardless of default settings

Tip: It’s important to note the order in which multiple (or layered) inclusion/exclusion commands are prioritized:

  1. Default Settings – This is the first level of priority. If nothing has been overridden within the Brand or Product Inclusion Control Settings, default settings will be used.

  2. Brand Inclusion Control Settings – This is the second level of priority. If products have been included/excluded at the brand level, default settings will be overridden.

  3. Product Inclusion Control Settings – This is the third level of priority. If products have been included/excluded at the product level, Brand Inclusion settings as well as Default settings will be overridden.
